Does my phone support eSIM?
Check eSIM support in seconds: dial *#06# and look for the EID. Plus the iPhone menu check and a note on carrier locks.
See plans and buy →Most recent phones support eSIM, but it's worth checking before you buy.
The surest check: dial *#06#. If you see an EID, your phone supports eSIM. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked.
On iPhone you can also go to Settings → General → About: if an EID line is shown, eSIM is supported.
Most iPhone XS and newer, Galaxy S20 and newer, Pixel 3 and newer support eSIM.
Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked; a phone locked to one operator can't use another operator's eSIM. If you're unsure, ask your operator.
FAQ
Can I use one eSIM on two phones?
No, each QR code installs once on one phone. Buy one plan per person.
When should I install the eSIM?
Before you leave, while on Wi-Fi. On arrival just turn on data roaming for the eSIM line.
Will my number or WhatsApp change?
No. The eSIM is data only; your main line stays on, so calls and WhatsApp keep your number.
